PETALCLOUDS

Petalclouds is the central artwork at Terminal 4 at Changi Airport in Singapore. It spans across 200 metres under the roof of the Central Galleria and is one of the largest kinetics in the world.

The kinetic is designed for continuous 24/7 operation and moves suspended loads above the heads of passengers. Operation is automated and is possible without on-site personnel. Visitor safety is ensured via a highly complex sensor system that monitors the status of the installation and its cable system at many hundreds of points in real time, extensive programming and interconnection of the sensors, and the design of many redundant safety components.
