SACHSENSKULPTUR

SMAC, Chemnitz
in operation since 2014

Client: Atelier Brückner, TMS

The time-dynamic model of Saxony, a large kinetic installation at the State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz (smac), was designed by ATELIER BRÜCKNER and developed by TAMSCHICK MEDIA+SPACE in collaboration with MKT. The kinetic landscape model connects the foyer with the three exhibition floors in an emotional journey through 300,000 years of history.

The floating screen has an overall size of about 6 x 4 metres and consists of five tiles. The vertical, flowing and dynamic movements correspond to the film, which is being projected onto the tiles by eight beamers recessed into the ceiling. It moves a vertical distance of about 13 metres.
